The six members of the  Greater Tacoma Peace Prize Committee were appointed by Pacific Lutheran University and the local chapters of the Sons of Norway and Daughters of Norway.

The GTPP Committee meets throughout the year to receive and review nominations, raise funds, plan the Oslo trip for the laureate, and promote the cause of peace.

Pacific Lutheran University President Loren Anderson and his wife MaryAnne hosted a gathering of all GTPP recipients and supporters in their home on November 10, 2009. In appreciation of the university's support, the Committee presented the Andersons with a glass artwork similar to the one awarded to GTPP laureates.

Syttende Mai 17th of May Parade Seattle

The Committee members and laureates take part in the annual Syttende Mai Parade in Seattle, WA. The 17th of May is Norway's Constitution Day (which commemorates the signing of Norway's Constitution in 1814) and is the biggest holiday in Norway.
